Viruses in Pen Drives

With nset of the computer revolution, pen drives have been an integral part in our lives.
they are small, cheap and handy to use, but they also pose a great threat to your computer security. They are very notorious in transferring dangerous viruses and worms to computers
MntDrCore.exe, Ravon.exe, are the most common pen drive viruses. Along with these one can find Autorun.inf and autorun.ini in the pen drive. Autorun.inf and autorun.ini direct the pen drive to the viruses, wreaking havoc on the system. Some viruses like Ravmon and Heap41a worm cannot even be detected by some antivirus software and spread rapidly through pen drives from one computer to another.
One can protect the P.C by the following simple steps:-

Connect the pen drive or USB drive to the computer. A dialog box will pop up asking one to choose what one wants the Windows to do. just click on cancel.
Go to start – run and type cmd to open Command Prompt. Check the drive letter of your pen drive (For example, Transcend H:). In the command Prompt, type h: and press Enter. Now type dir/w/o/a/p and hit enter again. One will get a list of files. See if any of these files are there: Autorun.inf, New Folder.exe, Bha.vbs, Iexplore.vbs, Info.exe, MntDrCore.exe, New_folder.exe, Ravmon.exe, Ravon.exe, RVHost.exe or any other file with a .exe extension.
If one finds any of these files above, one should run the command attrib-h-r-s-a*.* at the Command Prompt and press enter. Delete each file one by one using del file name (i.e. del autorun.exe). finally to be sure if the device is free of viruses, one should scan with a good antivirus.

Currently Heap41a is spreading fast.
